Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers make Adult Education a caring, community-based program!

If you:

  • Care about adults and teens who are working toward achieving their educational goals
  • Have a positive attitude and a strong interest in lifelong learning
  • Can schedule 1-5 hours a week as a tutor or literacy volunteer
  • Upon completing a background check, are available to meet with the Volunteer Coordinator and/or classroom teacher for optimum placement and training
  • Can commit to tutoring or other assistance for at least 6 months

Current Specific Needs:

  • Tutors to assist students learning language and math skills in Adult Basic Education or GED Preparation classes, mornings, afternoons, or evenings.

  • Volunteers to help teach Senior Tech, the beginning computer classes we offer to people who are 55 and older, in 4-week sessions, Tue & Thur afternoons, 2-4, one or two sessions per semester.

  • Help in distributing marketing materials around Bloomington: putting up posters and fliers about our programs, delivering our newsletters and brochures, and other distribution tasks.
